County citizens attend rally at Capitol

The Take Back Utah Rally was a big success with a lot of people attending including several from Emery and Carbon counties. The rally included a parade of ATVs, horses, semis, four wheelers, motorcycles, side by sides, jeeps, trucks, mountain bikes, wheel chairs and rock crawlers.

Savage from Price had a coal truck there drive the parade route. Local clubs included: Castle County OHV Club, Southeastern Utah OHV Club, and the Sage Riders motorcycle Club. Local representatives from Castle Valley included David Hinkins and Kristine Watkins.

Speakers at the event included: Sen. Robert Bennett, Sen. Orrin Hatch, Attorney General Mark Shurtleff and Mike Noel.

The San Juan County Sheriff's Office had two deputies in full uniform and in their patrol vehicles. One Salt Lake City Officer commented that this was the most well organized parade that he had ever worked, including the Days of '47 parade.

Motorized vehicle users do not want to lose any more access to ride on public lands. The local ATV clubs are very active in establishing and maintaining trails. They encourage users to stick to the trails that are available. User created trails bring problems to the trail system.
